Last Night a DJ Saved My Life (song)
"Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" a song written by Michael Cleveland for R&B/dance group Indeep has been all time favorites and the smashing remix that almost all the professional DJs lay their hands on.
It features vocals from Reggie and Rose Marie Ramsey, and its protagonists recall how they were bored to death until a DJ played a hot song and saved their lives by giving new energy to the night.
The song was released as a single in 1982 and became the most popular and successful hit released by their record label, Sound of New York. In the U.S. "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life" reached number ten on the R&B/Hip-Hop Singles chart and number two on the Club Singles chart, and it peaked at number thirteen in the United Kingdom. The track appears as the third track of the namesake album released in 1983. And ever since then it has ruled the minds of all the DJs across the globe.
The song also provided the inspiration for the title of the book Last Night a DJ Saved My Life: The History of the Disc Jockey (2000). Because of the limited success of Indeep's later releases, the group's first single was their only hit and placed them into the one-hit wonder category of artists. In 2004 UK house/trance music producer Seamus Haji made several popular remixes of the song through his own label, Big Love Records, and released them on a 12" single titled "Last Night a DJ Saved My Wife (ATFC mixes)".

Hear my Voice

She has been always my girl........my dream girl.....her voice divine......and she........is gorgeous

"Oye mi Canto (Hear My Voice)" is a single by Gloria Estefan. It was released in 1989 at Europe and in 1990 to the rest of the world as the fourth single from the album Cuts Both Ways The song exemplied some of Gloria's musical roots, much like in the style of her earlier music with Miami Sound Machine, and is much in the style of "Conga" and " Rhythm is Gonna Get You".Though the song was only a minor chart hit in the US, in Europe it increased Gloria's popularity. Furthermore, she obtanied her first MTV Video Music Award for this song for the "Best Pop Video" at the Ceremony in 1990.The remixes of the song and short editions were created by: Pablo Flores, who would go on to remix many other Gloria recordings, as well as Keith Cohen and David Morales.

DJs have arrived.

There are many reasons for one to become a DJ, for many, reasons rang from a passion for music to being attracted by its glitz and glamour. Many feel that a DJ is required to know much more than the latest music trends. He or she has to feel the party, and understand the audience in order to give them the music that they would enjoy the most. In fact, there is no particular age bracket for a person to become a DJ.

Well what I can say is, imagine being able to make people sway to your tunes. The high of making people dance to your beats is a high like no other. If DJ is your God, music your passion and mixing tunes your hobby, you have just streamlined the exciting new career of a DJ for yourself. A disc jockey, or DJ as he or she is commonly known, is the person who selects and plays prerecorded music for an audience. In fact, most professional DJs do much more than just playing music; they are responsible for mixing tunes, forming beats and creating an ambiance in the club, since they are the ones who build up a party with their choice of music

Why Disco Never Died

After the fiasco in Caminsky Park in Chicago where there was a "Disco Sucks" day and people came and burned their disco records, many thought that this was the end, but it wasn't. It was just the dawn of a new name... The following hopefully illustrates my point.

The most obvious of disco's continuing successes is house music. Ironically, the style was born in Chicago, the same city that served as the place of the "Disco Sucks" movement that hosted a record burning rally in Caminsky Park by burning tons of vinyl.

But former New York DJ Frankie Knuckles was determined to keep disco's flame blazing in a more positive way. At the Warehouse where he played (hence the name house music) is where he was a staple for 5 years.

Starting in 1978, Frankie Knuckles kept his crowds of dancers in a frenzy by playing up-tempo. R & B flavored songs. As Knuckles and his fellow DJ Ron Hardy fine tuned their sounds, the relentless sound of the kick drum became synonymous with this new form.

But that was hardly new: Giorgio Morodor had used it even before in "I Feel Love" and so had the Philadelhia based musicians particularly Earl Young. Young backed such known disco artists as the O'Jays and the tHree Degrees.

DJ Danny Krivit of NYC says "That house music was built from that beat. n fact most of today's dance music is based on it."

Disco and hip-hop have always been joined at the hip. The two styles evolved almost simultaneously during the 70's and both introduced the idea of the DJ as a star. The key overlap is the fact thast many early rap classics were little more than MCs rapping over proven disco dance floor hits: Most famously, Chic's "Good Times" is heard in both Sugarhills "Rappers Delight' and Grandmaster Flash's 'Adventures On The Wheels Of Steel."

Less known to many is the fact that this cross breeding has never really stopped. In the late 80's classics like Roy Ayers" Running Away" and "Don't Make Me Wait" by the Peech Boys were showing up in the Songs of a Tribe Called Quest and Queen Latifah. Later Puff Daddy would delve into the disco archives as he did with other styles of music. Diana Ross' hit " I'm Comimg Out" was seen in Notoriousd B.I.G.'S "No Money No Problems"

"I Did It For Love" by The Love Unlimited Orchestra underscored "It's All About The Benjamin's" and Unlimited Touch's " I Hear Music In The Streets" was felt in Faith Evan's 'All Night Long".

In England, the overlap was even more obvious. Disco influences are prevalent in the Human League, Soft Cell as well as some of early songs of Depeche Mode.

New Order's 1983 hit, Blue Monday, is loaded with disco references and I quote "We ripped off the arrangements from "Dirty Talk" by Klein and M.B.O." as stated by singer Bernard Summer in 2000. "We stole the best from Donna Summer's "Our Love Will Last Forever" And the bass line came from Sylvester's "Mighty Real."

All of this is not lost on one of disco's founding fathers. Although technology has evolved immensely since the Donna Summer's days, her old producer doesn't detect much variation between the music he laid down then and the music he hears today. And i quote "It's interesting to hear not just the sounds but the exact notes and rhythms I used on my albums, used now as they were 25 years ago." Moroder says with a smile "on almost every disco-dance-pop song, they used the the sounds I used for the first time in "I Feel Love."

Need i say more.

And the beat, as they say, goes on.

What does your music say about you?
“In short, people who listen to jazz are smart, liberal, adventurous, and poor; people who listen to heavy metal are smart, liberal, adventurous, athletic, and prone to social dominance; people who listen to Madonna or the ‘Dancing With Wolves’ soundtrack are agreeable, conscientious, conservative, rich, happy, dumb, emotionally unstable, and hot; and people who listen to hip hop are extraverted, agreeable, liberal, athletic, and hot.”

Wedding dreams are a reality

The Wedding DJs specialty is obvious. To provide the real life soundtrack for a wedding. I as a DJ was confident, I thought I can be elegant spokespersons and will act as a Master of Ceremonies (MC) to make any announcements, and help direct the guests. From the music to appearance of the bridegroom, I planned and incorporate ideas to make the elegant wedding envisioned.
But as a wedding DJ this was my first assignment. I had never done this before. And that too a Goan wedding……………

As it was the most important day of someone’s life, and they don’t wanna settle for second best I thought for myself.
I had absolutely no experience of wedding DJ but, I assured them of a wonderful celebration to be shared with family and friends.
I sat down with the family of the bridegroom in person to get to know who they are, and what they are looking for. Then I decided I as DJ will work with them to make the special day everything they dreamed. The elders of the bridegrooms’ family talked through a typical wedding reception with planners, and give me the ideas about how to make wedding unique.
Well when the wedding was finally over it was fun and entertaining and a memorable that I will never forget.
Wedding dreams are a reality.

Who the hell said
Some say it all began in Africa. But others know that it actually began in India back in time wrap. Spawning from the seeds of discovery, evolution soon took its course and a whole civilization of like-minded finger lickin’ music producers, DJs, and supporters joined forces around the feverish campfire. Chants of gnarly basslines and sirens of sticky warps echoed across dancefloors on all corners of the earth.

Do DJs matter?
HELLS YEAH! DJs matter a great deal. DJs make all the difference. Some DJs work with you, some DJs work against you. And some DJs are telepathic. I.e., they can TELL when what is really necessary is an excruciatingly sweet and melancholy waltz - mmm -and then again they seem to KNOW when what you really need is a nice goofy milonga to chill things out.
I believe that DJing is an act of creativity on a par with dancing itself. The best DJs are balanced, flexible, and inspired. They invest in humongous, eclectic music collections from which they select a suite of traditional and nontraditional songs to structure evenings of great loveliness for all of us dancers - most of whom are blissfully unaware of their behind-the-scenes work!
Therefore, with no further ado, I am pleased to draw your attention to highly telepathic masters of spin: the DJs

Make a wish
When the night comes, look at the sky. If you see a falling star, don't wonder why, just make a wish. Trust me it will come true,'cause I am sending my genie to you. I do not think much, I do not think often, but when I do think, I think of you. I love all the stars in the sky, but they are nothing compared to the ones in your eyes! You can fall from a mountain, you can fall from a tree, but the best way to fall, fall in love with my music.

“DJ”
A disc jockey (also disk jockey or DJ) is a person who selects and plays prerecorded music for an audience. Many DJs also speak to the audience, either to give the names of the songs and information about the performers (radio DJs) or to rap or chant along with the music (reggae DJs).
There are several types of DJs: radio DJs play music that is broadcast on AM, FM, shortwave or digital radio stations; club DJs select and play music in a club, disco, a rave, or even a stadium;hip hop disc jockeys select, play and create music with multiple turntables as a hip-hop artist and/or performer, often backing up one or more MCs; a reggae disc jockey (deejay) is a vocalist who raps, toasts, or chats over pre-recorded rhythm tracks; and mobile disc jockeys travel with mobile sound systems and play from an extensive collection of pre-recorded music.
The term was first used to describe radio announcers who would introduce and play popular gramophone records. These records, also called discs by those in the industry, were "jockeyed" by the radio announcers, hence the name, which was soon shortened to DJ or deejay. The physical act of selecting and playing sound recordings is commonly referred to as DJing (or deejaying), playing or spinning. The resulting performance is called a DJ set.

My Roots I will never forget

Rise up this morning to behold a bird making a nest on my door step, as I watch the bird go back ,and forth gathering the straw to make her nest to lay her egg it bring I man great joy to know that the bird choose I man house to make her nest. I man roots I will never want to forget I will always remember the roads I travel doing the work of His Majesty.
The Creator have taken I man from the cellar. He gave me music to travel the world, and to spread his message. Sometime I ask His Majesty when I will be discharge from this duty. If I man question his wrong I ask His Majesty to forgive I man. From this work I have experience great joy, and great pain. I know many of you have also experience the same thing I man have experience from your day to day life experiences.
I sometime have to ask why some people see music as a mean to hustle money. They don’t realize that music is more than what they think. And no matter what they do they cannot hurt music. Music is the people music, and carries no compromise. Are the legal hustler’s lives any better than I man life are they happy?

Without the illusion of nobility and artistic credibility on the part of musicians there can be no magic. And without the magic there can be no fantasy to inspire loyalty. And without loyality there is no music.

History is back
The first voice of an Indian person was recorded by the Gramophone Company in 1899 in London. In 1902, first gramophone disc was cut at Calcutta. During this long period, many record manufacturing companies have recorded Indian music. Although HMV - His Master’s Voice - continues to enjoy their monopoly in this field, about half million gramophone records have been manufactured and marketed in India under variety of banners and labels. Large number of artists have recorded various musical forms and styles from different regions of Indian subcontinent. Of course, a major portion of these recordings belong to Indian film songs. However other forms like classical, light classical, folk, religious music etc. have been recorded extensively.

It promotes spatial awareness, abstract and mathematical thinking, physical coordination and self-esteem. Furthermore, it is a way to learn about diverse cultures and historical periods, and it teaches an individual to cooperate with each other through group rehearsals and performance.
Music's direct effects are far more important than its side effects. Music is as fundamental to thought as is mathematics; it does not merely promote abstract thinking, it is one of the highest forms of abstract thought; music is not merely good for self-esteem, it sensually, intellectually and emotionally organizes the mind. This is an ancient concept.
Plato wrote in The Republic: "...rhythm and harmony find their way into the inward places of the soul, on which they mightily fasten..." Pythagoras and his disciples understood music to be the "harmonization of opposites, the unification of disparate things." These ancient definitions of music, which we should broaden to include the arts generally, find resonance in current neuroscience research that defines creative activity in the brain as the merging of reason and intuition. Neuro-scientist Antonio K. Damasio has compared the workings of the mind/brain to a musical score. Beethoven, who knew little or no science, sensed the value of the comparison in 1824. He wrote: "I wish you all success in your efforts on behalf of the arts; it is these, together with science, that give us inclines of a higher existence and the hope of attaining it."

When a woman raised her hand and gently asked, "What kind of music does God like?" I stood motionless for a few moments, a glazed look passed over my face, and then profoundly muttered," ... I have no idea ... "
